Everyone probably needs to take medication at one time or another,
sometimes temporarily, but possibly for a lifetime
It is very important that you understand why your medication is
being prescribed and that you take it exactly as instructed. This is
important because your medication has been prescribed to treat your current
illness. In many cases, a patient's failure to take medicine as prescribed will
result in a more serious (and costly) condition. Make sure you understand your
doctor's instructions before you leave the office.
The label on your prescription includes the date,
prescription number, the name of the medication, the dosage, and how often it
is to be taken. The pharmacist may also place stickers on the container with
special instructions or precautions.
Whether your doctor is treating you for a sudden illness or for a chronic
condition, such as high blood pressure, your medication must be taken exactly
as directed. Try not to miss a dose no matter how you feel. If you are
concerned about how you feel, call your doctor or pharmacist immediately for
advice.
| Everyone occasionally forgets, but -- organize a system to take your medication exactly as prescribed. Your pharmacist can suggest ways to keep to a routine and tell you what to do if you miss a dose: | |
